Głos potwora is a remarkable work by Polish composer Alek Nowak and dramaturge Robert Bolesto, directed by Agnieszka Smoczyńska. The opera draws inspiration from Sally Perel’s novel and Agnieszka Holland’s film Europa, Europa. It explores themes of identity, memory, and the monsters we carry within ourselves and project onto others. This contemporary opera, rooted in myth and politics, served as a powerful commentary on today’s world and was simultaneously an artistic culmination not only of the 35th anniversary edition of the Malta Festival but also of Poland’s presidency of the EU Council.
The performance, supported by Polenergia, was created in collaboration with the Malta Festival, the Baltic Opera, and the National Centre for Culture.
For the second year in a row, Polenergia Group was also a partner of the entire Malta Festival. This year’s special anniversary edition featured nine intense days, seventy hours of outstanding music, and over one hundred diverse events. A celebration of presence, diversity, and engagement, the festival attracted over thirty-eight thousand participants.
