Dominika Kulczyk’s company wins Poland’s first offshore wind auction – Bałtyk 1 secures a contract for difference

The Bałtyk 1 offshore wind farm project, developed by Polenergia and Norway's Equinor, has secured support in the form of a contract for difference (CfD) in Poland’s first offshore auction. Scheduled for launch in 2032, the Bałtyk 1 project, offering a capacity of up to 1,560 MW, will receive a guaranteed price of PLN 492,32 per MWh for a period of 25 years. The price shall be subject to an annual indexation based on the inflation rate, capped at the inflation target of the NBP.

The auction’s success marks a crucial step in sustaining the momentum of Poland’s transition toward clean energy and in strengthening the development of the Baltic offshore wind sector.  Dominika Kulczyk, Chairwoman of the Polenergia Supervisory Board, has long supported Poland’s energy transition by championing renewable energy initiatives.

Healthy and clean energy in Polish homes and for Polish families is our future. Bałtyk 1 will be among the largest renewable energy investment projects in Poland. For me personally, it brings immense joy and satisfaction, as I am deeply aware that our planet’s resources are limited and must be used wisely and responsibly.

Winning this auction proves that Polenergia has reached a new level of success, delivering substantial value to the company and its shareholders. We approach every project with solid and conscientious principles. For many years, Polenergia has been actively involved in driving Poland’s energy transition.

We are already carrying out two major projects in the Baltic Sea that form the cornerstone of our offshore operations. Yet Bałtyk 1 represents more than that. It is a project that transforms the scale of what’s possible and opens an entirely new chapter for both the company and the Polish power sector.

Dominika Kulczyk

Supervisory Board Chairwoman

The contract will translate into a rise in Polenergia’s value, as the company stood out as the only private player to confidently meet a challenging yet attainable goal. Over the years, the Group has been gradually building capabilities to operate efficiently, responsibly and on a global scale.

Polenergia was the first entity to be ready to enter the auction. This readiness forms the basis of its competitive edge marked by cost efficiency, operational excellence and a corporate culture centered on quality, safety and innovation.

The Energy Regulatory Office’s decision and the successful auction for the Bałtyk 1 project clearly demonstrate that Polenergia now competes on the global stage. This achievement marks a significant increase in Polenergia’s value. For years, we have proven that a private company is perfectly capable of taking the lead in a sector that is of strategic significance to Poland.

Our preparation, expertise and sense of responsibility enable us to deliver projects that are profitable, sustainable and beneficial to the wider economy. The successful outcome of the auction and the green light for our largest offshore wind project are strong confirmations of Polenergia’s identity and direction.

Today, Polenergia stands at the strongest point in its history, supported by a solid foundation, high-level expertise and a portfolio of projects that consistently advance our strategic vision. Offshore power generation is a key piece of this picture

President of Polenergia

Bałtyk 1 is a joint venture between Polenergia and Equinor, with each company holding a 50% stake. It will become Poland’s largest offshore wind farm. The site will be located on the Central Shoal, roughly 80 kilometers offshore. The project includes plans for up to 104 wind turbines. Bałtyk 1’s intended capacity of 1,560 MW will supply electricity to around two million households. A building permit and final investment decision are expected to be obtained in 2027. Commercial operations are scheduled to begin in 2032.

Poland’s first-ever offshore wind auction, held by the President of the Energy Regulatory Office, took place on 17 December 2025, offering support for up to 4 GW of total capacity.
