Global Project Finance Gold for Dominika Kulczyk’s Company – Baltica 2 and Baltica 3 Offshore Wind Projects Awarded the Prestigious PFI Deal of the Year Europe 2025

The Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farm projects, jointly developed by Polenergia and Equinor, have received one of the most prestigious distinctions in the global Project Finance market – PFI Deal of the Year Europe 2025. The award confirms the exceptional scale, complexity and strategic importance of the projects for Europe’s energy transition.

Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 rank among the largest offshore wind investments in Europe, with a combined capacity of 1,440 MW and a total value exceeding EUR 6 billion. At the same time, they represent the largest Project Finance transaction in the history of the Republic of Poland.

More than 30 international financial institutions participated in the financing process, making it one of the most landmark transactions in the history of Poland’s renewable energy sector.

Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 demonstrate that we are delivering solutions on a truly global scale. This is evidenced not only by their international nature and the participation of leading global financial institutions, but also by the sheer scale of the projects, which has attracted recognition from the very beginning. I am extremely proud of the Polenergia team and everyone who contributed to this success. Every day, they prove that a vision based on renewable energy can be delivered with courage, expertise and commitment.

I deeply believe that the future we are building together will be a better one. We are doing this in service to Mother Earth, for people and for future generations. We are genuinely transforming the Polish energy landscape, and this international recognition shows that we are doing so at a level that sets new standards.

Baltica 2 and Baltica 3 were recognised for the scale of the investment, the innovative financing structure and their strategic importance for regional energy security.

Polenergia is consistently strengthening its position as a champion of the energy transition in Poland and across the region. The company is creating a new quality of business by combining experience, expertise and capital with the ambition to deliver projects that until recently seemed unattainable.

The Polenergia team is a dream team of specialists and investors who act faster, more boldly and more agilely than anyone else, effectively operationalising some of the most demanding projects globally. About the PFI Deal of the Year Europe Award

The PFI Deal of the Year Europe award is one of the most prestigious distinctions in the field of project and infrastructure finance in Europe. It is granted annually by Project Finance International (PFI) – a leading global industry publication specialising in the analysis of Project Finance and infrastructure financing transactions worldwide.

The award recognises the most significant and groundbreaking financial transaction of the year in Europe, assessed in terms of scale, complexity of the financing structure, innovation and overall impact on the market and sector development. It honours projects that set new benchmarks in the financing of large-scale infrastructure and energy investments, often involving international financial institutions, commercial banks and development banks.

Winners are selected by the PFI editorial and analytical team based on an in-depth assessment of transactions closed during the year. The results are published in the prestigious PFI Yearbook, and the awards are traditionally presented at a gala ceremony in London, attended by key representatives of the global project finance market.

In previous editions, the PFI Deal of the Year Europe award has been granted to projects regarded as milestones for European infrastructure and the energy transition, including landmark offshore wind developments, pioneering PPP projects and complex digital infrastructure financings.
