Over 15,000 students learned how to care for the planet – Polenergia wraps up the third edition of the “Play green with us!®” programme

Over 3,000 hours of eco-lessons in more than 80 primary schools and kindergartens, over 15,000 students, and more than 100 eco-contests and projects – these are the numbers behind the recently completed third edition of the Play green with us!® educational program, run by the Polenergia Group. The initiative aims to introduce young people to topics related to renewable energy sources and broadly understood sustainable development in an accessible and engaging way.

We are convinced that reliable knowledge is a powerful tool in combating disinformation and the foundation for shaping pro-environmental attitudes. We know that long-term change begins with awareness, which is why Polenergia actively promotes climate education. The Graj z nami w zielone!® programme is the best proof that educational activities delivered in a clear, creative, and engaging way can inspire younger generations to care for the environment and foster a sense of responsibility for our planet. In all our projects, we focus especially on areas near our farms, where we aim to strengthen local engagement and build lasting relationships with communities.

The classes conducted during the third edition of Play Green with Us!® were based on four thematic modules related to climate education. They provided an opportunity to discuss issues such as waste segregation, renewable energy sources, water management, and the importance of biodiversity. In addition to eco-lessons, participating schools implemented more than 50 eco-contests and 50 eco-projects. Thanks to the collaboration between Polenergia, teachers, and students, initiatives such as school gardens, flower meadows, irrigation systems, and sensory gardens were created. Furthermore, funds provided by the group were used to install school irrigation systems and equip biology classrooms.

The programme really surprised us positively. It's a great initiative that not only introduces students to the topic of ecology and renewable energy sources, but does it in an interesting, engaging and - most importantly - understandable way. The kids were delighted, because instead of "dry" theories we had fun, field games, team tasks and a lot of practical activities. It was obvious that topics such as saving energy or caring for the environment really caught their attention. And what's important for us as teachers - the students not only learned something, but also started to think more consciously about their daily impact on the planet. A great idea, great implementation and a huge plus for combining education with fun. We definitely recommend such projects - I hope there are more of them in schools!

A key component of Polenergia’s programme was the “Climate Reading” campaign, which encouraged students to expand their knowledge of environmental issues. During the third edition, school libraries received over 2,000 new books on nature and climate protection, donated by Polenergia.

The Play Green with Us!® programme also included participation in local community events. In the final months of the school year, teachers and student volunteers organized eco-booths in nine different locations. During school and municipal picnics, they promoted environmental awareness through eco-quizzes, workshops, and interactive challenges. The youngest participants built wind turbine models and observed how energy is generated.  These activities not only brought environmental topics closer to the students, but also helped develop their social skills.
