Polenergia as best company in 2018 according to sWIG80 index

Polenergia S.A. (‘Polenergia’) awarded the Bulls and Bears statuette for the best company according to the sWIG80 Index in 2018. The ceremonial gala of the awards of Gazeta Giełdy i Inwestorów “Parkiet” was held on 21st March 2019 at the Warsaw Stock Exchange headquarters.

  • A significant improvement of the company’s financial results in 2018;
  • An increase of Polenergia’s capitalisation in 2018 by 68 percent up to PLN 932 million.

For the 25th time, the editors of Gazeta Giełdy i Inwestorów “Parkiet” honoured the best listed companies and institutions of the capital market with the prestigious Bulls and Bears awards. Polenergia turned out to be the winner in the category of companies constituting the sWIG80 Index. In 2018 Polenergia’s shares jumped by 69 percent, and it was the highest increase in the sWIG80 Index, while the WIG-energia Index contracted in 2018 by 19 percent. In the previous year the Group clearly improved its financial results, which was reflected in its listing on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

In the justification of their decision, the journalists of “Parkiet” emphasized Polenergia’s being successful in finishing many activities initiated in previous years, such as debt restructuring of the majority of its wind farms, optimisation of its operating costs and winning Equinor as a partner in the development of offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea. Due to its optimisation actions and efficiency improvement, Polenergia manifestly improved its financial results, and its stock exchange quotations strongly went up. In 2018, compared to 2017, the Group’s revenues rose by 25 percent and they 2 reached the level of PLN 3.45 billion. The net profit in turn, without one-off events, amounted to PLN 34.7 million and it was by 73 percent higher than the adjusted result in 2017.
